Day 5 The 1st Century church modeled for us what it means to give generously and joyfully so that more and more people could find their way back to God. 2 Corinthians 8:2-4 “Out of the most severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity. For I testify that they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability. Entirely on their own, they urgently pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service to the saints.” God uses the tithe as an investment where everyone involved gets a return. If we are blessed beyond our needs, it is not for the purpose of living more lavishly but to bless others. The church and the kingdom are blessed, and yet God’s nature is to also bless the giver. Malachi 3:10 “‘Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,’ says the LORD Almighty, ‘and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.’" Check out the rest of todays Connect 20 at connectionpoint.info/friday #247daily

Day 4 Long before tithing was a practice of the Israelite people, Cain and Abel, the 2nd generation of the human race, brought an offering to the Lord. Abel brought the “firstborn of his flock,” while Cain brought “some of the fruits of the soil.” The Lord blessed Abel’s offering, but rejected Cain’s. God wants (and deserves) to be first in our lives. Deuteronomy 26:1-2 “When you have entered the land the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance and have taken possession of it and settled in it, take some of the firstfruits of all that you produce from the soil of the land and present them to the LORD your God.” Check out the rest of todays Connect 20 at connectionpoint.info/thursday #247daily

Day 3 Matthew 6:20-21 “Store up for yourselves treasures in heaven… For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” What is the most important thing to you? We see the way our culture encourages us to store up treasures on earth and exalts materialism to the point where debt has become acceptable. We can recognize that truth by evaluating our own checkbooks. As Christ-followers, however, we are called to free ourselves from the bondage of debt so that our resources are available for His purposes. When our giving is Spirit-led, scripturally accurate, it gets in the devil’s way. He hates it when you sow because he knows it will equip you for a harvest. Satan wants you to think that sowing is something that works for some people but not you. He wants you to believe that you won’t receive a harvest. He knows if he can get you to doubt, he can keep you from giving and thus receiving a harvest; neutralizing your financial effectiveness for the Kingdom of God. He actually keeps you poor, in mind and blessing. The enemy knows that when you begin receiving harvests, you will understand the potential available for blessing others. He does not want that to happen. Check out the rest of todays Connect 20 at connectionpoint.info/wednesday #247daily

Day 2 Our giving allows God to act on our behalf. Why would you lock your windows or doors? Perhaps to keep thieves out. To keep thieves from stealing what doesn’t belong to them. That’s exactly what God does. He has the windows of heaven locked to keep thieves out. Malachi 3:8 in the Classic Amplified Bible says: “Will a man rob or defraud God? Yet you rob and defraud Me. But you say, In what way do we rob or defraud You? [You have withheld your] tithes and offerings.” Now let’s carefully read Malachi 3:10 in the Classic Amplified Bible: “Bring all the tithes (the whole tenth of your income) into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and prove Me now by it, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.” Your obedience in giving of tithes and offerings opens the windows of heaven over your life. If you don’t tithe and give offerings the windows of heaven are closed, but if you tithe and give offerings the windows of heaven are open. Opened or closed. . .it’s our choice. Day 1 Who do you want to please? . . . your spouse, mother, father, sister, brother, best friend, neighbors, employer or most anybody you meet? Truthfully, there is only one person we ever need to be concerned about pleasing because if He’s happy and well- pleased, we’ll find contentment in life. The scriptures offer some very basic guidelines about how to give an offering that is well-pleasing to God. Philippians 4:18 says: “But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odor of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, well pleasing to God.” The offering that is well-pleasing to God is the one He tells us to give. Whether what we give is big or small in our own eyes, the important thing to remember is to listen to the voice of the Lord and obey Him in the offering. Far too many believers are tipping God because they think that’s what they can afford to sow or are in the habit of giving. But we should ask God. Only He knows what you need to reap down the road. If God is not involved in our giving. . .it’s not well-pleasing to Him. . .He won’t accept it. The church or ministry might accept our offering, but God won’t. Malachi 1:10 in the Classic Amplified Bible says: “Oh, that there were even one among you [whose duty it is to minister to Me] who would shut the doors, that you might not kindle fire on My altar to no purpose [an empty, futile, fruitless pretense]! I have no pleasure in you, says the Lord of hosts, nor will I accept an offering from your hand.” Check out the rest of todays Connect 20 at connectionpoint.info/monday #247daily

Day 5 If the closest relationships of your life conflict with the claims of Jesus Christ, then Jesus requires instant obedience. Discipleship means personal, passionate devotion to a Jesus Christ. There is a vast difference between devotion ‘to a person’ and devotion ‘to principles’ or to a cause. Jesus never proclaimed a cause— He proclaimed personal devotion to Himself; to His Father. To be a disciple is to be a devoted bondservant motivated by love for the Jesus. Many of us who call ourselves Christians are not truly devoted to Jesus Christ. No one on earth has this passionate love for the Lord Jesus unless the Holy Spirit has given it to him. While we may admire, respect, and revere Him, we cannot love Him on our own. The only One who truly loves Jesus is the Holy Spirit, and it is He who has “poured out in our hearts” the very “love of God” (Romans 5:5). Whenever the Holy Spirit sees an opportunity to glorify Jesus through you, He will take your entire being and set you ablaze with glowing devotion to Jesus Christ. The Christian life is a life characterized by true and spontaneous creativity. Consequently, a disciple is subject to the same charge that was leveled against Jesus Christ, namely, the charge of inconsistency. He may have appeared inconsistent only because He was being judged by inconsistency. But Jesus Christ was always consistent in His relationship to God, and a Christian must be consistent in his relationship to the life of the Son of God in him, not only consistent to strict, unyielding beliefs. It is one thing to believe what you’re told. It is quite another to have a relationship with whom you are taught. #247daily
