John 15:1

I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.

Jesus calling Himself the True Vine teaches us many a great truth.  For instance, most teachers like to teach and encourage their students to continue to research and learn more.  As life continues information continues.  We know more about life today than we ever have.  Our information gets better as we learn.  However, with Jesus being the True Vine, there is no improvement.  In fact, improvement is impossible.  He is Truth.  He is the Source.  With Jesus, all we can do is continue abiding in what He offers. We try to improve, unintentionally, when we add our good works.  Our good works are not of our doing.  They are a direct byproduct of abiding.  In fact, we might have good works that we don’t even recognize because they come supernaturally to us through the Vine.
