John 15:2
Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
The Vine has but one purpose: to produce fruit. The Vine exists for that purpose alone. Without the fruit, the vine and all of its efforts are wasted. The True Vine has a singular purpose (knowledge of God that leads to Love) and that is to bear fruit to the glory of the Lord. The reason the Vine desires to produce fruit is so that the Gardener might receive the honor.
When fruit is yielded in a vineyard, neither the Vine, the branches, the soil, nor the fruit itself, receives any credit. All the credit (honor) passes on to the Gardener. So it is with the Lord Jesus. Everything He did and does was and is to glorify His Father. This should be our ONE DESIRE; GLORIFY GOD! This is a pruning process for us but it should definitely be our goal.
