I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
Jesus declares that we not only produce fruit from this partnership with Him but that we will bear ‘much’ fruit. This word ‘bear’ is significant. It means ‘to carry’. Like a grapevine that is weighted down by the fruit of grapes. Our lives are bursting with fruit for the Father’s glory. It conveys the meaning that what propels us on is the fruit that is produced. In other words, producing fruit for the Father’s glory is our primary motivation for everything we do. Is this the motivation for your life and decision-making?
