Day 1 Ephesians 5:19-20 He knew the next steps he heard could be those of the guards taking him away to his execution. His bed was the dank rock floor in this cramped prison cell. His food was only keeping him alive. He was never free from the frustration irritation of the pain and chains around his wrists and ankles. He was alone; separated from friends. He was wrongly accused and treated inhumanely. He should have just complained and gotten over it, but he had learned that doesn’t change anything. Instead of complaints, all he could do was encourage others to be grateful. His name was now Paul—a man who had learned the meaning of true thanksgiving, even in the midst of great adversity. (Graham) Earlier, when he had been imprisoned in Rome, Paul wrote, “Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Ephesians 5:19-20). Always giving thanks for everything—no matter the circumstances! Thanksgiving was a daily reality that changed his life and made him a joyful person in every situation. Thanksgiving will change us in the same way! #247daily
