Day 4 “Alexa, what is the weather today?” we might say each day. We purposefully dress ourselves based on the weather. We throw on a sweater when the air is crisp, we put on a winter coat when the temps drop even lower, and we take out our boots when it begins to snow. In the same way, God tells His people to purposefully dress ourselves based on the spiritual climate. If we knew our kids would be safe at school, we could lay down our arms—but with bullying and shootings becoming all too common, we can’t. If we knew we would be honored and exemplified at work, we could set aside our weapons—but our boss and workplace may very well ask us to do things outside the law and outside of our convictions. And if we could trust that our marriage is safe and forever pure, we could let down our guard—but the divorce rate proves otherwise. We live in a battlefield. Suffering and wrongdoing are becoming all too common, and evil seems to be running rampant. But God has not left His people unprotected, exposed and helpless. Not only is the God of Heaven's armies on our side, but we have every bit of spiritual armor offered to us. We truly can stand against every trick, scheme or deception as we put on the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, shoes of the Gospel of peace, shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit. Put it on every day! #247daily
