Day 1 There are consequences when we do not understand our place in relation to God. Too often we seek our own counsel, and pay no respect to the One who made them. “Woe to those who seek deep to hide their counsel far from the Lord, and their works are in the dark; they say, ‘Who sees us?’ and, ‘Who knows us?’ Surely you have things turned around! Shall the potter be esteemed as the clay; for shall the thing made say of Him who made it, ‘He did not make me’? Or shall the thing formed say of Him who formed it, ‘He has no understanding’?” (Isaiah 29:15-16). We are, in fact, totally dependent upon God to reveal to us what is right, and most importantly, what pleases Him. Left to ourselves, we wallow in ignorance. “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death” (Proverbs 16:25). Instead, with the prophet, we should declare, “O Lord, I know the way of man is not in himself; it is not in man who walks to direct his own steps” (Jeremiah 10:23). We must trust God and His Word of promises for every step we take…it is the only way we can guarantee that He will walk with us. #247daily
