Day 2 John 15:5

Day 2
John 15:5
I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

In verse 5, Christ’s words are too plain to be avoided. Many use social gospel (even humanitarian) issues to feel good about their actions.  We pat ourselves on our backs and feel good to give cups of cold water.  We try to do good things but each effort falls short to create lasting change.  Think about the good deeds First World countries have done to alleviate pain in Third World countries.  Has lasting change really followed?  No!  However, look at where the ‘real Gospel’ has gone in to nations.  Entire cultures have experienced freedom.  Because ‘without Me you can do ____________.  (Fill in the blank).  Maybe we need to redefine what the Gospel truly is.  What does Jesus say the Gospel is?
